ScanHawk

Dispute a verdict

This page is for people who own or run a website, or a QR code that points to one, and believe ScanHawk has rated it wrongly. If ScanHawk marks your destination Suspicious or Dangerous, or you think an entry in our threat feed is mistaken, tell us and a person will look at it.

Email support@twentypin.com with the subject line Verdict dispute. That is the only channel; the "Report" button in the app is for confirming a bad destination, not for disputing a verdict.

Before you write

A ScanHawk verdict is an opinion produced by software about a link at the moment it was checked. It is not an accusation against you or your business, and false positives happen — our Terms of Service say so plainly. New domains, redirect chains, unusual TLS setups, and hosting shared with bad actors can all raise a score on a legitimate site. That is exactly what this process exists to correct.

What to include

  1. The exact URL or URLs, or the domain, that were rated. Copy them rather than retyping.
  2. Your relationship to the site: owner, developer, host, or a user who believes it is safe.
  3. The verdict you saw and roughly when you saw it.
  4. What you believe is wrong, in a sentence or two. A screenshot of the result screen helps but is optional.

Please do not send passwords, access tokens, or personal data about other people. We do not need them, and anything you send us is handled under our Privacy Policy.

What happens next

  1. We aim to acknowledge your email within one business day.
  2. We re-check the destination independently and look at every signal that contributed to the verdict, including whether any external threat-intelligence source has flagged it.
  3. We aim to give you a decision within two business days of receiving your dispute, with the reason.

The possible outcomes

Upheld
We found no confirmed threat and the score is explained by benign facts. Any threat-feed entry for your site is switched off. Results are cached for up to 24 hours, so the corrected verdict appears within a day, not instantly.
Partly upheld
An entry was too broad, for example a whole domain blocked when only one path was bad. We narrow it and tell you what remains and why.
Not upheld
An external source we rely on still lists the destination, or our own re-check still finds it suspicious. We will tell you which source it is. Each of them runs its own dispute process, and we cannot override a live listing from Google Web Risk, VirusTotal, PhishTank, or URLhaus.
